Exclusive German Furniture Comes To Ireland

A Dublin-based commercial interiors company has signed a deal to distribute products by the pioneering German environmental furniture company, Wilkhahn, in Ireland.

Designflow Spielmann's agreed the deal following a merger with Germany's largest independent office furniture and fit-out company, Spielmann's Officehouse.

Designflow Spielmann's will now be the exclusive distributors for Wilkhahn's range of cutting edge conferencing and seating products.

Robert Trench, Managing Director of Designflow Spielmann's, said the deal was a significant coup in the interiors' sector.

"Wilkhahn are one of the world's most important manufacturers of high quality conference and office furniture; they are major innovators and their products are award winning, intelligently designed and highly durable.

"When some of Ireland's top architectural practices buy Wilkhahn for their own offices, you know that you are representing an important company."

The Wilkhahn name has become synonymous with the development of modern office furniture.

A family-owned business established over one hundred years ago, the company began making wooden chairs in 1907 and in the 1950’s started to receive international attention for their high quality functional seating ranges.

By 1992 they had produced the world’s first completely dismountable and recyclable office chair, which received numerous awards.

Following the opening of its own combined heat and power plant Wilkhahn is now almost completely carbon neutral and it continues to lead the field in environmental design and manufacturing.

Mr Trench added: "You could call them the Mercedes of furniture sector but as Wilkhahn are a carbon neutral manufacturer it would have to be a solar powered Mercedes."

Wilkhahn is most well known for its FS and Modus swivel chairs, Confair & Palette folding conference tables.
