Elton John Announces Gig At New Limerick Stadium
Multi-million selling recording artist Elton John has announced he is to appear in the newly developed Thormond Stadium next year.
The singer, who has sold upwards of 200 million records, will perform on June 6th at the revamped rugby stadium, which was recently re-opened after a €40 million redevelopment.
An estimated 20,000 tickets are expected to be sold for the event the details of which were announced Limerick yesterday.
Peter Aiken of Aiken Promotions said it was an opportunity to showcase Thomond Park to a new audience.
"We're delighted to be running a big, outdoor gig in Limerick for the first time,” said promoter Peter Aiken.
"The new Thomond Park is a really spectacular venue, which can comfortably hold 25,000 people. We've staged all of Elton's recent Irish gigs from Stormont Castle to Croke Park, and he always puts on a spectacular show."
Seated tickets are €116.25, €96.25, €91.25 and €81.25. General Admission tickets are €79.25. They're on sale from usual outlets from next Monday, November 10th, at 9.00am.
The concert will be the first in a series of events to be held in the stadium.
