Funeral Underway Of Shane Geoghegan
The funeral of the murdered 28-year-old, Shane Geoghegan, takes place this morning near his home in Dooradoyle, Co Limerick.
A guard of honour will be in place at the church at St Joseph's Church in O'Connell Avenue for his funeral mass, composed of players of from Garryowen Rugby Club, of which he was captain.
There will also be a silence observed by hundreds of staff and students from the University of Limerick at the University plaza at 2.00pm, while there will be a silence at the Munster, All Blacks game at Thomond Park next week.
Mr Geoghegan had planned to attend the game along with his Garryowen club mates.
It emerged on Monday that Gardaí believed pressure from their investigation had forced the perpetrators to flee to Dublin, and today Garda Commissioner Fachtna Murphy a meeting with the investigation team in Limerick over the callous murder.
Gardai now believe that three assailants from Limerick were directly involved in the shooting of the 28-year-old, who was engaged to be married.
He was wounded three times in the upper body and once in the head.
Gardaí believe the killers were targeting a member of the Keane-Collopy crime gang but mistook Mr Geoghegan for the intended victim.
The gang in question has been involved in a long-running drugs feud with the McCarthy-Dundon gang in the city.

Man Mistakenly Gunned Down By Gang
A Limerick gang has gunned down a man in cold blood in a case of mistaken identity. According to reports this morning, rugby captain Shane Geoghegan, 28, is believed to have been mistaken for a known drugs importer who also lived in the area by the gang. Mr Geoghegan was shot up to 10 times in the heinous attack which took place at around 1.30am.

Garda Chief Expresses Sympathy For Geoghegan Family
The Garda Commissioner has expressed his sympathy for the family of the murdered man Shane Geoghegan. Following his meeting with the Taoiseach and the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform this morning, the Garda Commissioner also re-stated the commitment of An Garda Síochána to policing in the Limerick area.

12 Arrested Over Geoghegan Murder
A total of 12 people have been arrested in connection with the Shane Geoghegan murder in Limerick last November. The six men and six women were arrested this morning as part of a major operation by gardaí in counties Clare, Tipperary and Limerick.

Geoghegan Accused Returned For Trial
The man charged with the murder of Limerick rugby player Shane Geoghegan has been returned for trial to the Central Criminal Court. The 23-year-old Barry Doyle, originally from Portland Row in Dublin, but with an address at Hyde Road in Limerick was served with an extensive Book of Evidence in the case at Limerick District Court today.
