Irish Addresses On Leaked BNP Member List

Three Irish addresses were flagged up on a leaked list of members of the rightwing British National Party.

The three people living in Ireland were among 12,000 members included on the leaked document, which went online over the weekend.

Party chiefs have demanded a police investigation into the leak, which is believed to have been made by former members of the organisation.

The BNP described the leak as "a disgraceful act of treachery" although the party has confirmed that although a year out of date, the list is "essentially genuine". According to the party, the published list is based on its 2007 memberships.

The list contains details of the jobs and in some instances, the hobbies and qualifications of members, including teachers, police officers and members of the British armed forces.

Since 2004, police officers have been banned from being members of the party, which is regarded as an extremist right wing party.

In a recent article about the recent American election results on the BNP website, party Chairman Nick Griffin said: "For at the very heart of Barak [sic] Obama there is a deep-seated anti-white racism."

"He detests his own white grandmother when she is frightened by an aggressive black beggar. He is, in short, a true racist bigot."

Three individuals with addresses in Dublin, Co Galway and Co Sligo are included on the membership lists.

The list has since been withdrawn from Google's servers in the belief they contravened laws on privacy.
