Police Seize Drugs In Dublin And Limerick

Cocaine has been recovered in Limerick today, just as news of the seizure of a large quantity of ecstasy tablets in Dublin has been made known.

Gardaí said earlier today that a male, aged 25 years, was detained in Swords Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

They said he was held as a result of searches that were carried out in Kinsealy yesterday evening, the 27th November.

He was later released in the early hours of this morning and a file will be prepared for the Director Of Public Prosecutions

These searches took place as part of ongoing enquiries into the sale and supply of drugs in the Swords area of Dublin.

Subject to analysis, the estimated value of the drugs seized is €30,000.

Meawhile, it has just been revealed that €150,000 of cocaine and guns have been recovered in a separate operation.

As part of the ongoing investigation into organised crime groups in Limerick - and into the murder of Shane Geoghegan - Gardaí carried out a number of searches in the Galvone area of Limerick city today.

This search was carried out by the Limerick Divisional Search Team assisted by members of the Garda National Drugs Unit and Gardaí from Roxboro Road.

During the course of the search two kilos of cocaine, with an estimated street value of €150,000, three firearms - two rifles and one shotgun - and a large quantity of shotgun cartridges were recovered.

Body Confirmed As Missing Galway Man
Gardaí have confirmed they have found the body of missing Galway man Adrian Folan. Mr Folan had been missing since last Thursday, when he was last seen in Athlone. Gardaí say that a body found in a disused quarry near the village of Liscannor in north Clare is that of Mr Folan, and that the death is being treated as suspicious.

Searches Launched Across Limerick City
Up to 20 searches are being carried out across Limerick City this morning, 26 April, as part of an operation targeting criminal activity. Gardaí launched the operation in the early hours of Tuesday morning and the operation is ongoing. One man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.
