Man Held After Dublin Drugs Haul
Targeted drug-related raids by gardaí are continuing to pay dividends - and a separate police operation has seen robbery suspects held too.
It has emerged today that as a result of a planned search which was carried out at a house in the Cleggan Avenue area of Ballyfermot on Friday, that quantities of what are believed to be cannabis and cocaine in addition to a pistol and ammunition were seized.
The officers said that a male (aged 50) was arrested.
He was detained in Ballyfermot Garda station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
The search took place as part of an ongoing operation targeting serious crime in the Ballyfermot area, a Dublin suburb, just west of the city centre, and close to Phoenix Park
Subject to analysis, the estimated value of the cannabis seized is €28,000 and the cocaine €3,500.
Meanwhile, gardaí are continuing to question two suspects as part of investigation into an armed robbery at a jewellers at William Gate Street, Galway.
It took place at 1.15pm on Friday and as a result, the police have arrested two men - aged 24 and 25 years.
The arrests were made in Athenry shortly after 5pm and the men were detained at Mill Street Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
They said that three raiders had entered the premises, armed with firearms and crowbars and made off with a quantity of jewellery.
Gardaí are astill appealing for information regarding a vehicle believed to have been used in the robbery.
It was a blue/grey Volvo S80 - Registration Number: 02-D-72615 and was last seen in the Cartymore area of Galway on the main Galway/Monivea Road at 1.45pm today.

Man Arrested Over Cocaine And Ammunition Find

Gunman Arrested In Dublin
Gardai in Dublin have arrested a man after an attempted armed robbery of a pub in Chapelizod, early this morning. Officers were called to The Villager pub at around 1am. The man, armed with a shotgun, was demanding cash from the barman when two gardai entered. The gunman turned his weapon on one of the officers, who disarmed him and made an arrest.

Gardaí Appeal For Missing Person Tony Galvin
Gardaí have issued an appeal to the public for help in tracing a man who is missing from his home in Dublin. Tony Galvin, 41, from Ballyfermot has not been seen since Tuesday 05 February. He is described as being 5'7", of slim build with a shaved head and green eyes. Mr Galvin also has a tattoo of a tiger on his shoulder.
