New Tesco Store Brings 220 Jobs For Drogheda

The opening of a new Tescos store in Drogheda has brought 220 jobs to the town.

The new store is located in the Rathmullan Business Centre, off the M1 motorway, and is Tesco Ireland's 15th new premises opened this year.

Tesco's Chief Executive Tony Keohane said the new opening marks a significant milestone for the firm, which has filled 1,000 new positions in the last 11 months.

"We are also supporting a number of local suppliers and producers who will supply products to this store and to many others throughout the country," he added.

TD Dermot Ahern said the new jobs were a major boost to the economy of the area.

"This is Tesco’s fourth store alone in Louth and they are to be commended for their commitment to their store opening programme and to job creation."

The store will be the second in Drogheda and fourth in Louth where 460 people are already employed by the chain.

Dealz Creates 80 New Jobs
Dealz has announced it is to create 80 new jobs in Ireland. The roles will be creates across three new stores. The discount retailer opened its two newest premises today in Mallow and Navan, and has said another store will open in Athy, Co Kildare, next week. The company employs just under 1,000 people in Ireland.

35 New Jobs Announced In Counties Offaly and Longford
Some 35 new jobs are to be created in Co Offaly and Co Longford, it has been announced. Condron Concrete Works in Tullymore, Co Offaly have announced a €3 million expansion creating 20 new jobs. The family-owned firm are to develop a new plastic pipe making facility. Recruitment for the nes posts is expected to begin immediately.
