Gun Recovered In Dublin Shooting Probe

As part of the continuing Gardaí investigation into the fatal shooting of Aidan O'Kane, searches were carried out at houses in the north inner city area of Dublin yesterday.

According to officers, during the course of these searches a handgun and quantity of ammunition were recovered.

They said this firearm will be subject to forensic and ballistic tests after being uncovered along with a quantity of assorted illegal drugs which was also recovered.

They also said that a 32-year-old female who was in custody at Pearse Street Gardaí station in relation to this investigation has since been released without charge.

Mr O'Kane, a 50-year-old father of one was shot in the Bargy Road area of East Wall on Sunday night after he chased a group of teenagers from his home.

He died a short time later in the Mater Hospital.

A 16-year-old boy has been remanded in custody charged with Mr O'Kane's murder.

According to a gardaí spokesman, several other people remain in custody, including three males and one female. They are being held in Store Street, The Bridewell, Pearse Street and Whitehall Gardaí Stations.

Missing 25-Year-Old Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man who was missing from Harcourt Street in Dublin has been found safe and well, Gardaí have reported. Simon Quinn was reported missing after last being seen at around 2.30am on Monday, 30 July. However, Mr Quinn has now been found and Gardaí said they wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.

Water Charge Protest Held At Gates Of The Dáil
Some 300 people gathered on Kildare Street near to the Dáil on Wednesday afternoon to protest the water charges. Six gardaí vans responded to the protest, with confrontations between officers and protesters.

Man In Court Over Clontarf Murder
A 41-year-old man is due in court this afternoon charged in connection with the murder of Finbar Dennehy. Mr Dennehy, 50, was found dead in his apartment last Wednesday stabbed to death in Clontarf, Dublin. The suspect has been in police custody since Saturday night when he was arrested by Gardai at a guesthouse in Dublin city centre at around 8pm.

New Searches Underway In Drogheda In Mulready-Woods Investigation
Gardaí investigating the murder of Keane Mulready-Woods(17) are carrying out further searches in Drogheda. According to reports, a search is underway at Oldbridge, with the surrounding area sealed and the road closed. It follows searches carried out earlier this week in the Rathmullen Park area of the town.
