Five Released After Attempted Robbery

Five people who were held following an attempted robbery at a credit union in Dublin have been released without charge.

In the incident, a 4x4 vehicle failed in an attempted ram-raid style manoeuvre at a credit union in Rathfarnham village, shortly after it closed for business at 5pm on Friday afternoon.

The vehicle quickly left the scene after reports of shots being fired and was found abandoned in the Orwell Park area a short time later.

Nobody was injured and no money was stolen.

Four men and one woman were detained in relation to the incident but have now been released.

A Gardaí spokesman said: "All five people detained in relation to this incident have now been released without charge.

"A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and will be forwarded on completion."

Driver Arrested After Gun Find
A 25-year-old man was arrested in Dublin yesterday after a gun was found in the car he was driving, garda have said. The car was stopped and searched at about 5.30pm on North Circular Road by gardai on patrol. Officers found a firearm and other implements in the car.

Two For Court Over Kildare Heroin
Two men are due to appear in court today, charged in connection with the discovery of €2.4 million of heroin in Kildare yesterday. Around 12g of the drug was discovered after gardaí stopped and searched a number of cars off the Naas Road at Kill. Four men, three aged in their 20s and one aged 51, were arrested at the scene.

Man Released Without Charge Following Attempted Robbery

A man entered a cafe in Ashford holding what is believed to be an iron bar and threatened staff on Thursday afternoon. No one was injured and the man got away with nothing. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
