Gardaí Appeal After Man Drowns In Liffey
Gardaí in Dublin have issued an appeal following the death of a man in the city from drowning.
Officers at Pearse Street station have requested assistance from the public in their investigation into the death of the 27-year-old male who drowned in the River Liffey, near Aston Quay, last Monday at approximately 2am.
They are particularly keen to speak to several people who were standing at the Taxi rank on Aston Quay and who went on to try and assist the male in the water.
Their efforts were unsuccessful and the Dublin Fire Brigade later took the male from the River Liffey.

Drug addiction service, the Ana Liffey project, is hoping to establish Ireland's first drug treatment centre in Dublin's city centre. Called a residential stabilisation service, the Ana Liffey project, introduced its new strategic plan for "a creative approach to targeting drug related harm".

A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to four months' detention for throwing a homeless man's rabbit into the River Liffey in Dublin. Gary Kearney, originally from Crumlin, pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to animal cruelty and torture. He also admitted breach of the peace during the incident on 3 July 2011.

Woman Rescued From River Liffey
A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after she was rescued by emergency services from the River Liffey in Dublin. She is understood to have entered the water at O'Connell Bridge and rescued at around 8.45pm last night. A passerby also entered the water to rescue her, however they were not injured.
