Bus Driver Assault Accused For Court
A 32-year-old man is to appear in a Dublin court in connection with the assault of a Dublin bus driver on Saturday.
According to Gardaí, the bus driver was assaulted and forced off the bus by a male who proceeded to drive the bus a short distance before being overpowered by passengers who took control of the bus and brought it to a stop.
Gardai were immediately on the scene and arrested a 32-year-old male.
Reports say there were about 15 passengers on board the 56A bus, which runs from Tallaght to Ringsend. The bus hijacking took place in the Liberties area between 9.30pm and 10.00pm last night.
Two passengers, a man and a woman, were involved in an altercation with the driver before the incident, and when the driver stopped to contact gardaí he was pulled from the bus and beaten.
The driver was released from hospital after being treated for two broken bones in his hand and severe bruising.

Investigation Launches Into Dublin Bus Fire
An investigation has been launched into a fire on a Dublin Bus. The Fire Brigade was called to the out of service bus after it caught fire at about 13:00 in the Harold's Cross area. There were no passengers on board the bus at the time and the driver escaped uninjured. It is not yet known what caused the fire.

Renewed Appeal Over Murder Of Taxi Driver
Gardaí have renewed an appeal for information on the murder of taxi driver Martin Mulligan. Mr Mulligan (53) was stabbed to death on 28 September following an altercation in Dundalk in Co Louth. It is believed the altercation began over an unpaid taxi fare.
