Director Back At Work As FAS Advertising Agency Dealings Probed
A leading civil servant was due back at his desk today following investigations into how a major state-run department was controlled.
Greg Craig, Director of Corporate Affairs at the state training agency, will resume duties after management decided to revoke his suspension.
It came after an internal audit report detailed a series of alleged breaches of procurement rules in his division.
Mr Craig was suspended on full pay in December after being off sick since last June.
He has since said that anything he did was "known to his superiors' after being criticised by the Comptroller and Auditor General, John Buckley.
The top watchdog insisted the agency was failing to achieve value for money in dealings with its advertising agency.
Mr Craig controlled an annual budget of more than €10m and the Dáil Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is continuing its investigation into various issues at FAS.
