Passengers Escape As Tree Rips Roof Off Bus

An early morning Dublin bus has had its roofed ripped off by an overhanging tree.

The 10 passengers on board the double-decker escaped unharmed when it crashed during rush hour traffic.

The bus driver has been taken to the Mater Hospital to be treated for shock.

The incident occurred at around 8.30am while the bus was making its way along a designated bus lane on Dublin’s North Strand towards Artane in the north of the city, near the Five Lamps pub.

None of the passengers were on the top deck of the 42A route double-decker at the time of the crash, according to a Dublin Bus spokeswoman.

A team of accident investigators from Dublin Bus’' risk and safety department are to immediately begin inquiries into the incident.
