Body Found In Anne Corcoran Case

A body has been found by members of the Gardaí investigating the disappearance of pensioner Anne Corcoran.

Officers investigating the 60-year-old's disappearance have located what they believe to be a body at a rural location near Ballinspittle, Co Cork.

Ms Corcoran went missing from her home near Killbrittain on Tuesday.

Gardaí in west Cork are continuing to question a 49-year-old man arrested yesterday in connection with the disappearance of Ann Corcoran.

The man was detained at a house in the Bandon area yesterday on suspicion of murdering the widow.

A major search for Ms Corcoran was launched following her disappearance, and was still ongoing in the Bandon/Kilbrittain area until today's find.

She was last seen on January 18 and her car was found abandoned near Bandon last week.

Gardaí say they are not in a position to confirm any further details about the body at this time.

The area is cordoned off pending the arrival of crime scene examiners from the Garda Technical Bureau. The office of the State Pathologist has been notified and is expected to attend the scene shortly.
