Bus Drivers Stage Protest Outside Transport offices

Dublin Bus drivers have launched a new protest outside the offices of the Department of Transport this morning.

The demonstration is part of a campaign against the company's decision last week to axe 290 jobs and remove 120 buses from service.

Dublin Bus said the move was a response to falling passenger numbers and is aimed at preventing major financial losses this year

The protesting drivers, however, say the cuts will seriously damage public transport services and will put their livelihoods at risk.

The protest comes on the heels of a similar protest by the city's taxi drivers on Monday, who were voicing their concerns over the number of taxis on the roads following deregulation.
