Donegal Garda Death 'Not Suspicious'

The funeral of a police officer who died while off duty in Co Donegal at the weekend is due to take place tomorrow.

Gardaí said today that they are not treating the death on Saturday as suspicious.

Enda Hughes, 29, was in Letterkenny celebrating a stag party. It is understood he fell twice during Friday evening.

His body was discovered in his hotel room the following morning.

"Nothing sinister is suspected. It was a tragic accident," said a Gardaí spokesman today.

Garda Hughes, who was based in Dundalk, will be buried on Tuesday near his family home in Co Mayo.

Body Found In Co Wicklow Carpark
Gardaí in Co Wicklow have reported the discovery of man's body in a carpark in Bray. According to reports the man is thought to have been homeless and it is understood that gardaí are not treating the death as suspicious. A post-mortem is expect to be carried to establish the cause of death. The identity of the man has not been revealed by Gardaí.

Soldiers Death At Dublin Barracks To Be Investigated
A solider has died at McKee Barracks, Dublin, after a fall from height, gardaí have confirmed. A garda and military investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the death of Private Patrick (Paddy) Conlon (32). Mr Conlon was based in the 28th Infantry Battalion, Co Donegal with an address at Coolaney, Co Sligo.

Victim 'May Have Met Killer On Dating Web-Site'
The mother-of-two who was found dead in a hotel in Limerick at the weekend may have met her killer through an internet dating web site, it has been reported. The body of 33-year-old Sylvia Roche Kelly from Sixmilebridge in Co. Clare was found lying face down in the bath in a room at the Clarion Hotel on Saturday morning.

Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Co Donegal Road Crash
Gardaí in Co Donegal have reported the death of a 19-year-old woman in a road accident on Tuesday morning. It is understood the woman was a front seat passenger in a car that crashed into a ditch at Dreenan in Ballybofey at about 4:24am on Tuesday. The driver of the car, a 19-year-old male, is said to have suffered minor injuries in the crash.
