Gardai Find Body Of Teen In Monaghan Lake

Gardaí searching for a missing teenager in Co Monaghan have found a body.

It was discovered in a lake in Rossmore Park this afternoon.

It is not clear at this stage if the body is that of Michael Hughes, who has been missing since Thursday.

Officers today launched an appeal for the whereabouts of the 16-year-old when he failed to return from a camping trip.

In other news, Gardai in Kilkenny are seeking the public's assistance in tracing the whereabouts of Bridget Harty, 16 years from Callan, Co. Kilkenny, who was last seen on Saturday 14th February between 11.30pm and midnight at her home.

Bridget is descirbed as 5 '9", having blonde hair, fresh complexion and an athletic build.

When last seen she was wearing a blue hoodie and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Body Found In Co Donegal
Gardai have launched an investigation after a body was discovered in Bundoran, Co Donegal, this morning (25 April). The body, believed to be a man aged in his 60's or 70's, was found near the shore in the West End of the town. It is believed the body remains at the scene.

Body Confirmed As Missing Co Kilkenny Man
Gardaí have found the body of a man that was reported missing two weeks ago. The body of Billy Dooley, of Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, was found in a public toilet in the town. It is understood that gardaí had been searching for Mr Dooley for a fortnight. They say that his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Pensioner Dies In House Fire
A man, 74, has died in a house fire in Rathcormac, County Cork. It is unclear how the fire began, however gardai say they are not treating it as suspicious. Fire crews arrived at the scene after they were alerted at approximately 7.45pm on Sunday evening.

Yellow Weather Warning Issued For Heavy Rain
A yellow weather warning for rain has been put in place across many counties in Ireland. The warning came into effect at 11pm on Sunday night, 13 October, and is in place until 11.59pm on Monday, 14 October. The warning is for Munster, Connacht, Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wexford, Offaly and Westmeath.
