Ireland Joins Europe In Mass Protests
An estimated 120,000 took to Dublin's streets on Saturday in protest against the Government's handling of the recession.
The protest reflects other mass protests that have been undertaken by workers across Europe as the credit crunch continues to bite.
Dublin's protest saw the demonstration march from Parnell Square in the capital at 2pm, led by delegations from Waterford Crystal and SR Technics.
In a statement this morning, the Government said it recognised that the measures it was taking were difficult and in some cases painful.
In the UK, police are preparing for a wave of protests against the economic crisis to take place.
A senior Metropolitan Police officer has warned he expects possibly violent outbursts, and a surge of support from the middle classes, who have found themselves jobless.
The warning comes in the wake of protests in Greece, where farmers blocked roads over decreasing agricultural prices.
Meanwhile, in France one million workers joined protests to demand greater jobs protection and better wages.
Reykjavick saw demonstrators clashing with police, following the economic catastrophe in Iceland.
