Three Arrested Over Murder Of John Carroll

Gardaí investigating the murder of John Carroll in Dublin last week have arrested three people in connection with this investigation.

Mr Carroll was shot at a public house at the Coombe on 18th February, and one man, 55, was arrested yesterday afternoon in Dublin city centre.

He is currently being detained at Kevin St Garda Station. he was released last night without charge and a file will be prepared for the DPP.

Two further arrests were made this morning in Dublin city centre. Two men in their 20s were held and are currently detained at Kilmainham and Kevin Street Garda Stations.

The arrests come within days of a gardaí investigation over the shooting of amateur rugby player Shane Geoghegan during, which 14 were arrested.

Street Row Death In Focus
The tragic death of a young Leitrim man after an assault in Dublin city centre two years ago has been reviewed in court today. The victim, 22-year-old Liam McGowan, from Kinlough in Leitrim, died after spending three weeks on life support machine following the assault in the early hours 20 August 2006.

Man Arrested Following Drugs Find
Drugs with an estimated street value of €170,000 have been seized by gardai during a raid on a property in west Dublin. Cocaine and cannabis was found during the raid at a house in Balgaddy. A gun and ammunition were also discovered. A 37-year=old has been arrested and is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.

Missing Dublin Teen Found 'Safe And Well'
Gardaí have reported that missing 18-year-old Kayleigh Carroll has be found and is safe and well. Miss Carroll had been missing from her Dublin home since last Saturday. Gardaí have not revealed where Miss Carroll was found or where she had spent her time while missing but have said that she is "safe and well", thanking the public for their help.

19-Year-Old Pleads Guilty To Sexual Assault Of Two-Year-Old
A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a two-year-old toddler. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to two counts of the offence on dates unknown between December 9, 2011 and January 9, 2012. The victim was only two years old at the time.

Hotel Planned for Dublin Gasworks Site
Planning permission is being sought to turn the vacant apartment block at the Victorian gasometer, Ringsend, Dublin into a 520-bedroom hotel. Developer Liam Carroll aims to make significant changes to the fabric of the protected Alliance building which has lain vacant since 2006.
