Donegal Gardaí In Crackdown

A gun has been recovered and three men have been arrested for questioning about crime in west Donegal.

The men, aged between 18 and 22 years, were held at three separate locations in the greater Bunbeg area on Sunday afternoon.

A shotgun and a pistol were also recovered. Gardaí said the arrests were part of an investigation into crime in west Donegal.

Two men are being questioned in Milford and the other is in Letterkenny.

The development follows the discovery of an arms cache earlier near the border with Northern Ireland.

Gardaí recovered two suspected pipe bombs, four pistols, two revolvers and two sawn-off shotguns in Carrigans near Londonderry on Saturday.

On Friday, the post office in Carrigans was robbed by armed men.

Bodies Of Two Men Recovered Following Boating Accident Near Donegal
Two men have died following a boating accident in Co Donegal. Emergency services were alerted when the body of one of the victims, a man in his 50s, was found on the shore at Malinbeg at around 10.30am on Sunday, 09 July. The body of the second man, who was in his 40s, was found a short time later.

Garda Investigate Shooting At Co Cork Home
An investigation has been launched after a shot was fired at a house in Co Cork on Monday. It is understood that armed gardaí responded to reports of a shot being fired at a house in Crookstown. When they arrived an elderly man is understood to have come out and spoken with garda officers at about 19:00.

Two Arrested Over Taxi Hijack
Gardaí in Dublin have arrested two men in connection with the early morning hijacking of a taxi. According to garda, at about 02:20am a taxi picked up two men in Castlerock and drove a short distance, before the men asked the driver to stop and ordered him out. They then drove away with the vehicle.

Two Arrested Over Robbery Of Cheques Worth €1.1m
Two men have been arrested in Dublin in connection with the theft of cheques with a value of €1.1 million. It is understood that as a man used a night safe at a bank in Tallaght just after a midnight two men robbed him of the document bag he was about to lodge.

Gardaí Investigate Cash-In-Transit Robbery
An investigation has been launched following the robbery of a cash-in-transit van on Monday morning at Blakestown in west Dublin. The incident occurred shortly before 8am when two men approached the van armed with an iron bar and what is believed to be an imitation firearm and threatened a member of staff.
