Road Toll Tops Five

There have now been five road deaths over the past weekend.

There were two fatalities this morning alone, with the latest crash now being probed by Gardaí in Co Kilkenny.

They said today they are investigating a two-vehicle road traffic collision, which occurred at 7.15am this morning on the Waterford side of Ballyhale.

A 30-year-old female was pronounced dead at the scene when the car in which she was travelling was involved in a collision with a lorry.

No one else was injured in the collision.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them on Thomastown on 056-7754150.

Earlier today, a 16-year-old teenager was also tragically pronounced dead at the scene when the car in which he was a rear seat passenger collided with a tree.

Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating that collision, which occurred at Cuffsgrange around 5.35am.

The driver and a front seat passenger were also brought to Kilkenny Hospital.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 - 7775000.

Gardaí in Naas were already investigating an earlier road traffic collision, which happened shortly before 8.20pm last night - 1st March - at Cromwellstown, Kilteel, Naas, Co. Kildare.

A 33-year-old male was taken to Tallaght Hospital after the car in which he was a passenger collided with a fence.

Tragically, he was pronounced dead some time later.

Two other men who were travelling in the vehicle at the time were also taken to Tallaght Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle and another passenger were uninjured.

Anyone who may have witnessed the blue BMW between Kiteel and Cromwellstown Cross prior to the incident is asked to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 - 884300.

Meanwhile, a similar investigation is underway after another fatal road traffic, this time in Tipperary.

The collision also occurred on Sunday evening, but his time at Newcastle, Ardfinnan Co Tipperary.

A man in his early 20s was pronounced dead at the scene after the motorcycle on which he was travelling was involved in a collision with a car at about 5.50pm.

No one else was injured in the collision.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Gardai in Cahir on 052-45630.

An earlier motorcycle accident also proved fatal.

Gardai at Ennis are investigating after the crash shortly before 1pm on Saturday at Ballaghafadda West, Clarecastle, Co Clare.

A 35-year-old male motorcyclist was killed when his motorbike hit a ditch.

He was taken to Ennis General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.

Man Dies In Motorcycle Accident In Dublin
A man has died in a motorcycle accident in Dublin. The collision occurred on Forest Road in Swords at around 8pm on Wednesday (18 June). The man, 19, was taken to Beaumount Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Gardai have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

Man Dies In Co Kerry Road Collision
A man has died in a road collision in County Kerry. The man, 51, was killed after his 4x4 vehicle collided with a signpost in Listowel at approximately 8.40pm on Monday night. He was taken to Kerry General Hospital but was later pronounced dead. The road has been closed and diversions have been put in place.

Man Pronounced Dead After Collision With 4x4
A man has been pronounced dead after his car collided with a 4x4 utility vehicle in County Longford. Gardai in the area are investigating the two vehicle fatal crash, which occurred shortly after 2.30pm at Agharra, County Longford yesterday.

Man Killed In Offaly Crash
A man in his 50s has been killed in a crash in Offaly this morning. The crash occurred on the Bracknagh to Monasterevin Road when an articulated truck he was driving left the road after 8am. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
