Tragic Marathon Runner Was Offaly Teacher
Tributes are being paid today to the Offaly teacher who died while competing in the Barcelona Marathon yesterday.
Colin Dunne from Rahan was just five miles from the finish line when he collapsed
A post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death but its thought it was from a heart attack.
The 27-year-old, who was captain of Shamrocks senior hurling and football sides, had travelled out to the Spanish city with four members form the Rahan-based club to raise money for the Offaly hospice.
The teacher is survived by both his parents Tom and Bernie, his sister Ciara, his fiancé Yvonne Kearney, Grandparents, relatives and friends.
Principle of Killeigh National School Damien White is describing him as a colleague of exceptionally and inspirational ability.

Inaugural Students Of Migrant Teacher Project Graduate
The inaugural students of a bridging programme as part of the Migrant Teacher Project have graduated in a ceremony attended by the Minister for Education and Skills, Joe McHugh T.D. The ceremony on Thursday 04 July saw 34 teachers graduate having completed the bridging programme, 'Being a Teacher in Ireland' which ran from January to May this year.

Catherine Gowing Murder Accused Remanded Until January
A man accused of murdering missing Offaly woman Catherine Gowing has appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court in Wales by video link from Altcourse prison in Liverpool. 46-year-old Clive Sharp spoke just to confirm his name and that he understood the proceedings. The case was adjourned until 7 January 2013, when Mr Sharp will be asked to enter a plea.
