Ryanair Promise Free 1,000 Seats Per Million Lost By Aer Lingus
Ryanair have announced an unprecedented new promotion, which will see them give away 1,000 free seats for every €1million of after tax losses announced by their bitter rivals, Aer Lingus.
The rival airline is due to deliver its full year results on Wednesday amd Ryanair is predicting that Aer Lingus will announce an after tax loss of between €100m to €150m, which will see Ryanair release between 100,000 to 150,000 free seats for travel during the last week of March.
Ryanair said it was taking the initiative due to Aer Lingus's refusal to sell the Airline.
The budget airline also on Monday renewed its call for the Government to scrap the €10 travel tax and to sack Aviation Regulator.
The news comes as tourism chiefs launch a campaign to persuade more people to holiday at home this year with the promise of great value and convenience.
Fáilte Ireland also wants to send out a strong message that swapping overseas travel for an Irish break could help bolster the battered economy.
The campaign will include a revamped website flagging special offers, new look guide book and holiday planners as well as a multi-media advertising blitz.
The offer of 1,000 per million euro of losses announced by Aer Lingus will be released on Ryanair’s website www.ryanair.com at 2.00pm on Wednesday 11th March.
