Woo hoo! For St Patrick's Day Springfield Visitors
The traditional St Patrick's Day 'green' will be a shade paler this March 17th - by being given a cartoon yellow tinge.
The cult cartoon series The Simpsons will be spreading St Patrick's Day cheer in the capital with a special screening of a one-off, Irish-themed episode of the long-running show.
Two of the show's producers and a 'star' will also arrive in Dublin to promote the latest episode.
Nancy Cartwright, the actress who voices Bart, will join executive producers Al Jean and James L Brooks for a special screening of 'In the Name of the Grandfather' at the Lighthouse Cinema today, (Monday).
The cast members and producers will also take pride of place on a St Patrick's Day float tomorrow.
In a first for the cartoon, the new episode will be shown here in Ireland and the UK before it is seen in the US.
In the Irish-based episode, hopeless dad Homer takes a trip across the pond to fulfil grandpa's wish of having a pint in O'Flanagan's pub, in the little village of Dunkilderry – a pub where Grandpa spent the best night of his life.
Some of the locations featuring in the show will include the Giant's Causeway, Blarney Castle and, quite fittingly, the Guinness Brewery.
The current economic downturn also gets a mention, with Homer apparently buying a bar.
Irish actor Colm Meaney features in the episode.
