Man Due In Court Over 2006 Murder
A 21-year-old man is appearing at Dundalk District Court today (Wednesday), charged in connection with the murder of Aidan Myers in 2006.
Thirty-seven-year-old Aidan Myers, of Cox's Demesne, Dundalk, was killed by a gang who attempted to hijack a car in which he was travelling in December 2006.
Gang members, who were engaged in a cross-border rampage, rammed the car and Mr Myers was attacked during a subsequent altercation with a machete, during which he was killed.
He was found lying on the road by gardaí when they arrived at the scene some time later. His friend was also injured.
The incident took place in the Faughart area of Dundalk on the 13th December 2006.
Last year a 60-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were arrested in connection with the killing on suspicion of withholding information. Both were subsequently released.
