Man To Appear In Court On Ammunition Charge

A 20-year-old man will appear at Dublin District Court Number on Monday, over handgun and ammunition charges.

Gardai from Sundrive Road arrested three men at approximately 2.30am on Saturday morning following the recovery of a Glock pistol and ammunition on Crumlin Road, Dublin 12.

Two of the men were released without charge and a file but a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The three men aged in their early 20s were being detained in Sundrive Road and Crumlin Garda stations under the Offences Against the State Act.

Gardaí from Sundrive Road Garda Station arrested the man on Tuesday, 12 July, shortly after 9pm when they stopped and searched a car and its occupant close to Old County Road and discovered a firearm and ammunition.

The Special Criminal Court has heard that the victim of an IRA hitman was never involved in any criminal or subversive activity and was "totally blameless" and "wholly innocent." The comments were made as 50-year-old Rose Lynch was jailed for life for the murder of David Darcy in November 2011.

Two Men Arrested After 'Assassination Kit' Found In Stolen Car
Two men have been arrested after an "assassination kit" was discovered in a stolen car in north Dublin, according to Gardai. Two handguns, ammunition and a canister of petrol were also found during a vehicle search. The car had been stolen on 06 August. Two men were arrested in connection with the incident.

Four More Arrests Made In Water Charge Protest Investigation
Gardaí investigating an anti-water charge protest in Jobstown last November have made further arrests. Four men were arrested on Wednesday morning. It follows the arrest of four others on Tuesday in connection with the protest, which saw the Tánaiste Joan Burton trapped in her car for more than two hours.
