Two Men Sought After Savage Rape
The hunt is on for two young men who savagely raped a middle-aged woman in a Dublin park early yesterday morning.
The 55-year-old victim was being treated at the sexual assault unit in the Rotunda hospital last night, and Gardai are hoping to interview her further today.
Gardai described the incident as a "particularly violent" rape in which the woman suffered a horrific two and a half hour ordeal.
The woman was walking in Bushy Park in Terenure when the assault took place between 11.50pm and 2.30am near the banks of the river Dodder.
The woman had been walking along a pathway when two men abducted her and dragged her into bushes, where she was viciously attacked.
The two then ran out of the park and in to a car, while the woman managed to stumble onto the roadway, where she received assistance from a passerby and was taken to hospital.
Gardai officially confirmed they were investigating an assault on a woman at Bushy Park on Monday night or early yesterday morning.
The investigation is being led by officers based at Terenure garda station and an appeal has been made to anybody who was in the area during those hours and noticed two men acting suspiciously to contact the station or phone the confidential telephone line, 1800 666111.
