Shot Fired During Bungled Security Van Raid

Four men have been arrested following a bungled raid on a security van at a post office in Dublin today.

Gardaí in Store Street made the arrests after the attempted robbery at a post office on Church Road, East Wall, Dublin 3 at approximately 9.20am this morning.

During the incident, a masked raider entered the post office armed with a firearm. He threatened staff and demanded money, but was forced to flee the scene empty handed.

A Gardaí spokesman said they believe a shot was fired during the incident and one of the security staff received a minor injury.

The four men, who are all in their 20s were arrested on Jones Road, Dublin3 at approximately 12pm.

They are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act in Store Street and Mountjoy Garda station.

Gardaí conducted follow-up searches in the area.

Gardaí Launches Investigation After Post Office Robbery In Dublin
Gardaí have launched an investigation after a post office was robbed in Dublin. The incident occurred at Roebuck Post Office on Farmhill Road yesterday, 05 January. It is understood two armed men entered the post office in Goatstown at around 9:30am. One of the men fired shots which shattered the glass partition at the customer counter.

Man Arrested And Released In Garda Station Money Theft Investigation
A man arrested on Thursday morning in connection with €9,000 missing from Balbriggan Garda Station has been released without charge. The money was part of €26,000 recovered by gardaí after it was stolen during an armed robbery at Lusk post office in January.

Men Arrested Over Santry Cannabis Seizure
Cannabis worth an estimated €150,000 has been seized from a home in Larchill, Santry in Dublin, on Saturday. Gardaí arrested four men in connection with the find. They are due to appear in court on Monday.
