'Sundance Kid' McManus Flies Home For Wedding
Billionaire Irish tycoon JP McManus has now returned to Ireland after receiving treatment for prostate cancer in the US.
He flew back to Ireland to attend his brother's wedding.
The world famous gambler had travelled to the US with his wife Noreen after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer seven weeks ago.
He has spent the last number of weeks receiving expert treatment at a top clinic in the US.
Mr McManus flew into Ireland on his private jet to attend the wedding of his brother, Michael, on Friday.
The tycoon, who earned the nickname 'The Sundance Kid' from his successful coups at racetracks, could not attend last week's Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse racecourse due to his illness.
He also missed this year's US Masters at Augusta, Georgia, over the Easter weekend, an event he usually attends.
Members of the business and sporting world last night wished Mr McManus well in his ongoing battle against cancer.
The high roller, who divides his time between his home in Geneva and his luxurious estate in Martinstown, Limerick, is among the most popular men in the Mid-West thanks to his philanthropy.
Last month, he attended the very first All-Ireland Scholarship scheme in the University of Limerick.
In total, 1,300 students will benefit from €30m throughout the scheme.
He has also set up a similar venture at his old alma mater, Colaiste Mhichil in Sexton Street, Limerick, where over €1m has been donated to students since 1997, while the Paddy Harrington Golf Scholarships at NUI Maynooth enables budding golfers to stay in the country and develop their game.
He contributed €4m towards the redevelopment of Thomond Park.
Mr McManus began as a bookie in Limerick. He became one of the best-known gamblers on the racing circuit.

Woman Held Over McManus Murder
A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of John McManus last November. Gardaí in Cork investigating the killing have this morning arrested a woman in her 30s, and are holding her for questioning. The woman was arrested at a house on the north side of Cork city by investigating detectives from MacCurtin Street in the city.
