Appeal Launched After Assault

Gardaí have launched an appeal following an assault on a man in Cork that left him with severe facial injuries.

Officers at Mayfield station are seeking the public’s assistance in relation to their investigation into the assault, which took place at Old Youghal Road, Cork.

A Gardaí spokesman said: "On Monday 27/4/2009 at approximately 12.50am, a 31 year old man was assaulted near Balmoral Terrace, Old Youghal Road, Cork. He was brought by Ambulance to Cork University Hospital with severe facial injuries."

Officers are trying to ascertain the identities of a couple who were driving through the area at the time and spoke with ambulance personnel. It is believe they may have witnessed the assault.

Gardaí are also asking for anyone who may have witnessed, or have information, in relation to the assault to come forward.

Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses To Serious Knife Assault In Cork City
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a knife attack in Cork city in the early hours of Sunday morning. It is understood that a 38-year-old man was stabbed three times outside a house at Croaghtamore Square in Glasheen, in the southside of the city, at about 01:30 on Sunday. One of the stab wounds pierced the man's heart.

19-Year-Old Pleads Guilty To Sexual Assault Of Two-Year-Old
A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a two-year-old toddler. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to two counts of the offence on dates unknown between December 9, 2011 and January 9, 2012. The victim was only two years old at the time.
