Horrific Details Revealed At Murder Trial
The jury in the case against 44-year-old Ronnie Dunbar of Rathbraughan Park in Sligo - who denies murdering 14-year-old Melissa Mahon in September 2006 - has heard horrific details of the way the body was allegedly disposed off.
Samantha Conroy, who gave evidence via video link, said her father had placed Melissa's body in a sleeping bag and then into the boot of the car before telling her and her younger sister to get in the car.
The daughter of murder-accused told his trial she heard Melissa Mahon's neck "snapping" as her father allegedly shoved the 14-year-old's body into the boot of his car.
Ms Conroy said they then drove along the Drumahair road to a place he called "the Secret Wood" because it was in the middle of nowhere and no one knew where it was.
She said he then asked her and her younger sister to grab the end of the sleeping bag, before they all swung and let go, and that it took five minutes for the bag, with Melissa's body inside, to sink under the water.
Ms Conroy described her father as a controlling, dominant and aggressive man. She told his trial he had told them they were accessories to murder, and that if they went to Gardaí he would do the same to them as he had done to Melissa.
