Search Continues For Schoolboy In Golfclub
Gardaí investigating the disappearance of schoolboy Philip Cairns 23 years ago will examine an area at a south Dublin golf club.
Gardaí yesterday sealed off a wooded area of Grange Golf Club in Rathfarnham for technical examination, and are believed to be acting on a new lead in the case.
A Garda spokeswoman said geophysicists and experts from the Garda Technical Bureau would be deployed and that the area would be excavated over the coming days.
The Irish Times has revealed they have reason to believe a woman told gardaí she recalled seeing a grave-shaped mound of earth at the site at about the time the schoolboy disappeared.
Soil experts are expected to take samples and check if the earth had been disturbed in the past.
The 13-year-old schoolboy was last seen on the Ballyroan Road in Rathfarnham on Thursday, October 23rd, 1986. Despite extensive searches in the aftermath of his disappearance, no trace of him has been found.

Man Arrested In Michael Devoy Murder Investigation

A routine garda patrol in the Bohernabreena area of Tallaght, found the body of Mr Devoy on 18 January. He had been shot dead. Garda have confirmed they have arrested a man in his early 20s in connection with the murder.

Cannabis worth an estimated €100,000 has been uncovered in a wooded area in Co Cavan. Gardaí confirmed they made the discovery on Tuesday at Drumgill. No one has been arrested in connection with the find, gardaí have said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

Man Flees With Mother's Body
A man has fled from his home in Kerry with the body of his dead mother. According to reports, the 91-year-old woman, who is originally from the south of England but had been living with her son in the Kenmare area, died on holiday in Malta in September.

A boy has been killed in a road collision in Limerick. The 12-year-old is understood to have been struck by a vehicle in the Moyross area of the city around 10am on Thursday morning. The area has been sealed off and forensic experts are examining the scene. Gardaí have launched an investigation.
