No Water For South Dublin Homes

Households in South Dublin have gone without a water supply since Monday morning.

Residents of the Stepaside and Sandyford area, including Stepaside Park, The Rectory, Blackglen Road, Aitkins village, Wingfield, Lambs Cross, Cairnfort and Cruagh Wood have experienced low water pressure sine the bank holiday weekend.

The Dun Laoghaire County Council (DLRCC) confirmed that over 500 households have been affected by the problem, which arose after a pump failure due to a technical fault.

A spokesman for the council said: "The Council wishes to advise the public that a fault in the control panel for a pump that supplies water to the County, has resulted in lower water pressure and possibly loss

of supply at times of peak demand."

The council said temporary solution to the problem with the defective control panel will be in place by Friday, 8th May and this should ensure that full supply would return to all areas. The council have also planned to install a permanent replacement for the control panel by the end of next week.

The spokesman added: "The Council wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused to residents and to thank you for your patience."
