'Scissor' Mother Sentenced For Cleaning Crime Scene

The mother of the infamous 'scissor sisters' has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Kathleen Mulhall, who admitted cleaning up the scene where her daughters had killed her boyfriend, was sentenced in the Central Criminal Court today.

Mulhall, of St Mary's Park, Carlow, pleaded guilty in February to helping clean up the crime scene to conceal the gruesome murder of her then boyfriend Farah Swaleh Noor in 2005.

Mrs Mulhall told gardaí that she was not aware of the killing of Farah Swaleh Noor until after it had occurred, but she did admit cleaning up the crime scene at Richmond Cottages in Ballybough on 20 March 2005.

In December 2006 her daughters, Charlotte, 25, and Linda 32, were convicted, of Mr Noor’s murder and manslaughter, respectively.

The 53-year-old's sentence has been backdated to when she went into custody after returning home voluntarily from England in February of last year.

At the Central Criminal Court, Justice Paul Carney said the details of the dismemberment of Mr Noor was the most grotesque case that he had dealt with in recent times.

Some of Mr Noor's remains were found in the Royal Canal in Dublin in 2005.
