Nurse Strike In Killarney
The Irish Nurses Organisation has called for support over a strike it is calling at a hospital in Killarney.
The INO is urging the people of Killarney to support their members who will be stopping work for one hour later today.
The 24 INO nurses at the hospital are in dispute with the Health Services Executive South over its decision to abolition the Director of Nursing post at Killarney Community Hospital.
The nurses are due to stop work between 3pm and 4pm this afternoon.
The INO's Michael Dineen has promised that patient care will not be compromised during the work stoppage.
The organisation has been involved a spate of actions against the treatment of nurses and Government cutbacks.

Protesting nurses at Portiuncula Hospital in Galway have passed a vote of no confidence in their Director of Nursing and General Manager. Nurses working in the Ballinasloe hospital cast their vote at a general meeting this week, over the handling of an ongoing dispute within senior nurse management at the hospital.

Sligo Nurses Walk Out In Strike Action
In spite of last minute negotiations, nurses at a leading hospital are today taking industrial action. Sligo General Hospital has been hit by the action as the nursing staff are staging a one-day strike. Some 240 members of the Irish Nurses Organisation and SIPTU are taking part in the day of action, which started at 8am this morning.

Nurses Begin Industrial Action At Galway Hospital
Nurses at a Galway hospital have launched industrial action as part of a dispute over the treatment of two managers. The Irish Nurses Organisation have petitioned its members to take the action following the disciplining of two long-serving senior nurse managers at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.

Health Service Jobs' Crisis Warning
The Irish Nurses Organisation (INO) has complained about a possible 6,000 nursing jobs that could be lost in the next 20 months if current HSE proposals are followed. INO's General Secretary, Liam Doran, warned about the draft document that the HSE has sent to managers and unions.
