Help Sought Following Assault On Woman
Witnesses are being sought after a woman was seriously assaulted last Thursday night in Co Limerick.
Gardaí at Roxboro Road Garda Station in the city are investigating the serious assault and are looking for the publics help.
The incident took place on Thursday 29th May, between 12.30am and 2.00am.
This was the night of the Champions League final and officers are hopeful that with the larger crowd in the city someone may have witnessed the attack. They are especially anticipating taxi drivers and revellers who may have been on their way home to come forward.
The victim, a woman in her 40s from the Limerick area had been socialising in the city centre with friends and at approximately 12.30am got a taxi from Liddy Street, adjacent to Sarsfield Street, to travel to the Dooradoyle or Raheen area.
It is not known were she got out of the taxi, but some time before 2am the woman was seriously assaulted by a male. Following the incident the woman was unable to locate her handbag containing keys and her mobile phone.
The woman was wearing a black and white striped top with a black waistcoat with white trousers and white sandals.
She was also carrying a white handbag. Gardaí are also anxious to hear from anyone who may have come upon the white handbag, keys or mobile phone discarded in any location to contact them.
Police would like anyone who was in the Dooradoyle or Raheen area, particularly in the St Nessan's Road area, between the Mid-Western Regional Hospital and the Raheen Roundabout to contact them.

Afghanistan Veteran On Rape Charge
A bomb-blasted former soldier has appeared in court in Belfast charged with rape and false imprisonment. Gerald Verner, 23, of Forthriver Park, who was deafened by a bomb in Afghanistan, is also accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm, sexual assault and threats to kill against the same woman.

Shots Fired At House In Limerick City
Gardaí in Limerick have arrested two men in connection with a shooting in the city. It is understood that shots were fired at a house in the New Road area at about 20:00 on Tuesday night. A 22-year-old woman and two teenage boys who were in the house at the time, escaped without injury.
