Arrests In Hannon Murder Inquiry
Three people, including two females, have been arrested in connection with the murder of Jeffery Hannon in November 2007.
Gardai at Roxboro Road investigating the murder made three arrests in the Limerick area this morning.
Two women, one in her late 30s and one in her late teens, along with a male in his 20s, were arrested under the offences against the state act.
They are currently detained at Roxboro Road, Henry Street and Mayorstone Garda Stations.
It is understood the 19-year-old Jeffery Hannon had suffered severe head injuries, possibly as a result of being beaten with an implement. He was found dead in the Southill area of the city in 2007.
A post mortem examination carried out by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy confirmed that Mr Hannon died a violent death.
Gardaí believe Mr Hannon and a number of other locals had been at a bonfire in the area before the murder.
At the time of the murder, Garda Superintendent Frank O'Brien said Mr Hannon was well regarded in the community and it was believed his death was not related to a feud in the city.
His body was found on waste ground by a local resident who was walking along Galtee Drive in O'Malley Park in Southill.
