High Flying Airline Hits 60 million

There was good news from Ryanair today as last month's figures were revealed.

It carried 5.84 million passengers - a figure that is up substantially on the 5.17 million it airlifted in June 2008 - and that's not all the 'no-frills airline' has been celebrating today.

Ryanair has also carried a record 60 million passengers in the 12 months to the end of June.

That's according to new figures released today which confirmed that passenger numbers in June increased by 13% compared to the same month a year earlier.

The airline said it expects that by the end of its full-year it will have carried 67 million passengers.

Overall too, the load factor, which represents the number of seats filled on each aircraft, rose too, although only by one per cent over the year up rom 84 to 85%, Ryanair said.

Ryanair Passenger Numbers Increase
Ryanair has confirmed its passenger numbers increased for December 2014. Last month, the airline carried 6.02 million passengers, compared to 5.02 million in December 2013, an increase of 20%. Its load factor, which is how many seats it fills on each flights, also increased by 7% last month, from 81% to 88%.

Delays At Airport After Planes Clip On Runway
Minor delays were caused at Dublin Airport this morning after two Ryanair flights clipped each other while taxing to a runway. According to witnesses one plane lost a small section of its wing when it clipped another plane. No one was injured in the incident and the airport quickly returned to normal.

Ryanair Customers Increase By 11% In July
Airline Ryanair has announced it carried 10.1 million customers in July, an increase of 11 per cent. Rolling annual traffic also rose by 15 per cent to 95.3m customers. Ryanair's Kenny Jacobs said: "This is the first time ever that any airline has carried over 10m international customers in one calendar month.

Aer Lingus Passenger Numbers Dive
Aer Lingus has revealed passenger numbers on its long-haul flights have fallen by more than 25% since this time last year. Overall passenger numbers during last month were just 0.2% below those for the same month last year, according to the carrier's reports today. Total passenger numbers in October 2009 were 902,000, a decrease of 0.

O'Leary Makes €18.75 Million On Ryanair Shares
Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary has sold five million shares in his airline earning him €18.75 million before taxes, according to reports on Monday morning. The sale reduces Mr O'Leary's holding in the company to just over 4%, equivalent to 0.34% of the airline's total amount of shares.
