Police Appeal For Help To Identify Body
A public appeal has been launched to assist gardaí in identifying the remains of a man discovered in the River Liffey in May.
Gardaí are hoping for the public's help in identifying the body discovered at Custom House Quay on 14th May this year.
A spokesman said a post mortem was carried out by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis showing the body had been in the river for over six months.
As all other avenues of attempting to identify the body had failed gardaí said they are now appealing to the public for information.
So far officers have established that the body was that of a male with an approximate height of between 5' 8'' and 5' 9'' tall with an approximate age of around 45-years-old.
He was clothed in a brown hoodie with 'Everlast' printed on the back in blue, and he wore a black leather belt with 'Levi' on the buckle with a pair of 'Hoi Polloi' jeans. The man was also wearing navy 'Lacoste' tracksuit bottoms with a white stripe under the jeans and white 'Y-3' runners.
A distinctive feature may be that he was wearing two sets of plastic rosary beads around his neck - one white and one blue.
Gardaí are asking anyone with information to please contact their office in Store Street on 01 6668000.
