Man Dies After Hitting Cow In Offally Crash

A man has died as a result of a road crash in County Offally after colliding with a cow.

Gardai in the Moneygall Co Offally are investigating the single vehicle collision, which occurred at Clashagad, Dunkerrin, shortly after midnight on Friday morning.

The 34-year-old male was injured in the incident after the car in which he was the sole occupant collided with a cow. He was removed to Nenagh general hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 2am.

There are diversions in place as the main N7 is closed between Roscrea and Dunkerrin village.

Meanwhile, Oxegen ’09 got underway this afternoon with music fans making their way to Punchestown Racecourse in Co. Kildare for the three-day music festival which officially begins tomorrow.
Gardaí said no traffic delays were experienced with traffic free flowing to and from the concert site.

Some 24,000 fans had arrived by 6pm with approximately 35,000 expected by the end of the day.
Gardai are encouraging those travelling to Oxegen to make use of public transport and the Free Park and Ride facilities available from Goffs off Junction 8 of the N7.

Man Killed In Sligo Crash

Red Cow Roundabout Incident Closes Road
Motorists have been requested to avoid the Red Cow Roundabout in Dublin due to an incident involving a cement truck. Traffic from the Naas Road are unable to access the M50 southbound. Emergency work is ongoing to remove the trailer from the lorry, but motorists have been urged to avoid the area.

5K Cannibas Plants Seized In Tullamore
A large amount of drugs have been seized and three men have been arrested during an operation in Tullamore. Gardai in the area said the search took place at a warehouse at Aughnacarna, Durrow, Tullamore, County Offally at 9.30pm. Gardai discovered a large cannabis cultivation operation at the warehouse.
