Fresh McDaid Arrest Made

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the murder of Coleraine father-of-four Kevin McDaid.

Detectives detained the man in the town last night. This brings the total number of arrests over the killing to 25.

Mr McDaid was beaten to death by a loyalist mob in May. The 49-year-old Catholic was attacked following a contentious Ranger versus Celtic football match.

It is believed troubled flared over the raising of republican flags in the national Heights estate.

Another man, 46-year-old Damian Fleming, was was also seriously assaulted in attack and remains critical in hospital.

Ten men have been charged in connection with the attacks, seven of them with murder and attempted murder.

Two men have been charged with attempted murder.
