Young Man killed In Hit And Run In Cork

A young man has been killed following a hit and run incident in County Cork.

A 21-year-old male pedestrian was fatally injured after he was struck by a car at Pewterhole Cross, Kinsale. His body has been removed to Cork University Hospital.

According to Gardaí, the car failed to stop at the scene, however in a follow up operation a car was located and an 18-year-old man was arrested and detained at Togher Garda Station.

He has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the DPP.

The incident occurred at 3.10am on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man has died following a road crash in County Louth.

Gardai in Ardee, Co Louth are investigating the circumstances of the collision, which occurred at approximately 10.25pm on the Sunday at Glack, Ardee Co.Louth.

The collision occurred in the townland of Glack, Ardee Co.Louth which is on the Glack to Drumcondrath Road, County Meath. The male driver was the sole occupant of the car.

The road was closed earlier today to facilitate a Forensic Collision Investigation and should be re-opened at 10.00am.

Woman Seriously Injured In Three-Car Accident

Man Dies In Car Crash In Co Donegal
A man has died in a two-car collision in Co Donegal. The crash occurred on the Ballybofey to Glenfin road in the early hours of this morning. The victim is believed to have been in his 20s. Two men and two women were also injured and are currently in hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Man Dies In County Waterford Road Crash
A man in his 20's has died in a road crash in County Waterford in the early hours of Saturday 08 December. The collision between a car and a lorry happened on the N25 at Bawnard, Ardmore, at around 4.30am. The man was the sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle collided with a lorry.

Man Arrested In Connection With Fatal Road Collision
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal road accident in Dublin on Friday night. A woman, 40, died when she was hit by a car on the Davitt Road, which fled from the scene. The car, believed to be a Ford Focus, has not been found. Gardai believe the car would have been damaged at the front and the windscreen.

Pedestrian Killed In Traffic Collision
A pedestrian has been killed after he was struck by a car at around 10pm last night. The 48-year-old man was hit by the vehicle on the N2 at Reaghstown, Ardee, County Louth. His body has been removed to the Louth County Hospital for a post mortem examination. The driver of the car was uninjured. The scene remains closed and diversions are in place.
