Duff Joins Fulham From Newcastle

Republic of Ireland international Damien Duff has signed for Premiership side Fulham from Newcastle.

The 30-year-old midfielder is Fulham's third signing of the summer. He has joined the club for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal which will see him remain at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2012.

Duff had previously played for Blackburn, Chelsea and Newcastle.

He made his international debut for Republic of Ireland in 1998 and has made 78 appearances for his country.

Speaking on Fulham's website, Duff said: "I am happy that my move to Fulham has been completed and look forward to joining in with the rest of the squad's training programme immediately, in preparation for two important home matches this week.

"Fulham had a fantastic season last year and I know that having spoken to the manager in recent days that the club's ambitions remain high and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead."

Fulham's manager Roy Hodgson told the website: "I am delighted to add a player of Damien Duff's calibre to our squad, and welcome the further midfield options he provides us with. I have known Damien for over a decade since he broke into the first team at Blackburn when I was manager, so I'm fully aware of his qualities and I am looking forward to working with him again."

Six Years For Contractor's VAT Scam
A man has been sentenced to six years in jail for his role in “a well-organised and well-planned” VAT scam. 33-year-old Derek Floyd was jailed yesterday by Judge Ray Fulham at Ennis Circuit Court for six years, with the final year suspended, after a jury convicted Floyd of a €680,000 VAT fraud between January 2001 and October 2003.

High Court To Hear Brooks Injunction Application On Thursday
The High Court will hear an application on Thursday, which seeks to block any Garth Brooks shows from taking place at Croke Park. The action has been taken by a Croke Park resident, named as Brian Duff, against Aiken Promotions and Croke Park and is seeking an injunction against the shows granted a licence to run on 25, 26 and 27 July.
