Latest ATM Ram-Raid Investigated

A spate of ram-raid style thefts of cash machines across Ireland has continued.

An automated teller machine (ATM) was this time removed from a pub in Fintona, Co Tyrone.

A car was deliberately crashed into the building in the early hours of Wednesday, before the machine was removed.

The thieves then made off with the machine in a second car. It has not been established how much money was taken.

Both of the cars used in the robbery had been stolen. The thieves made off in the second car towards Tattymoyle Road. It has not been recovered.

In July, a digger was used to steal a complete ATM at a border supermarket while the same tactics were used in Saintfield Co Down at a post office earlier this month.

The thieves caused substantial damage to a post office in Co Down early by driving a digger into the rear of the building.

It happened at 3.30am and saw them remove a large safe from the premises and escape with an undisclosed sum of cash.

Considerable structural damage resulted and the building next to the post office was also damaged in the raid.
