Neighbour May Have Shot Kerryman In USA
It has emerged that a long-running dispute with a neighbour may have led to the violent death of a 48-year-old Irishman from Co Kerry.
Reports this morning said the victim's neighbour has been charged with the shooting.
US police are continuing to investigate the shooting dead of Michael O'Sullivan, who was gunned down close to his home in Northern California.
The man, originally from Valentia, had emigrated to the US in the early 1980.
His family were the owners of the Royal Hotel in Knightstown until they sold it in recent years.
Before emigrating to the US in the 1980s, he worked in the building trade and played Gaelic football with Valentia Island and was regarded as a fine footballer.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has informed his family in Ireland.
Meanwhile, a post mortem is expected to be carried out today on the body of a young Irish man who drowned while swimming in Canada yesterday morning.
The 20-year-old was swimming with two friends off Centre Island in Toronto when he got into difficulty.
The local emergency services recovered him from the water, but efforts to resuscitate him failed.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing assistance to the young man's family.
Canadian police are investigating the incident, but say there is no indication of foul play.
