Second Road Tragedy As Crash Driver Dies
Tuam police are investigating a second fatal road traffic collision within hours.
It occurred at approximately 8am this morning on the N17 between Ballindine and Milltown.
The 45-year-old male driver of a car was killed when his vehicle was in collision with a tanker.
The deceased has been removed to University College Hospital Galway.
The road is closed at the scene of the collision awaiting a forensic collision investigation.
Earlier on Friday morning, gardaí at Lifford began investigating another fatal road traffic accident.
It occurred at approximately 12.30am this morning at The Haw on the N15, which is the Lifford to Castlefin Road, near the border with the North.
There were two cars involved and the male driver of one of the cars was fatally injured.
He was taken to Letterkenny Hospital, where he was pronounced dead sometime later.
The as yet unnamed deceased was in his early 20s.
Two other people were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital with injuries sustained in the collision.
That road also remains closed at present pending a forensic collision examination.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend
A number of separate road crashes this weekend have claimed four lives, including a father and son. John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. The collision occurred at the junction of Slab Road, Burt, on the Main Letterkenny to Derry Road at approximately 10.

Man Dies In Overnight Road Crash
A man has died when his car collided with a van on the Rathbeale road in Swords, Dublin, around 02.30am on Wednesday morning. The man in his 40s was a passenger in the van. He died at the scene. The driver of the van and a second passenger are being treated in hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.

Woman Seriously Injured In Three-Car Accident
A woman has been seriously injured following a three-car collision on the N4 Dublin/Sligo Road. The crash occurred on the Edgeworth Road at approximately 5.30pm on Wednesday (7 January). The woman is currently being treated at Midland Regional Hospital. The main Dublin/Sligo Road has been closed and diversions are in place.

Gardai in Tullow are investigating the fatal road traffic collision, which occurred on the N80, Kilbride, Ballon in County Carlow this morning at approx 8am this morning. The incident involved a car and a 4x4 and occurred near the White Mills Pub.
