Three Drugs Arrests Over Electric Picnic Haul
Two men and a woman have been arrested following a search in the Longford area this morning.
During the search, Gardaí from the Roscommon and Longford Divisional Drug unit assisted by officers from Boyle seized cocaine, cannabis and ecstasy with an estimated value of €80,000, subject to analysis, along with an amount of cash.
It has been revealed that Gardaí believe the drugs came from a Dublin criminal gang and were being held for distribution at the forthcoming Electric Picnic Festival.
According to a Gardaí spokesman, the search was carried out as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the Roscommon/Longford area.
The search was carried out under warrant at a house near Tulsk, in Roscommon at approximately 7am this morning.
Two males and one female in their early 20s were arrested at the scene and are currently detained under the drug trafficking act at Boyle Garda Station.
The arrests come only hours after eight men were taken into custody in a night of multi-million euro drug seizure operations in Dublin and the Roscommon area.
One of the men being held is believed to be an accountant working for one of the major banks.
