Arrest Over Stabbing Of Woman

A man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Dublin where a women was left with severe wounds to her face.

Gardaí at Mountjoy investigating the assault on the woman in her 30s on St Anne’s Road, Drumcondra, Dublin, have this morning arrested a 39-year-old man in relation to the incident.

He is currently detained at Mountjoy Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The woman was moved to hospital after the incident, which occurred while she was taking her young son to school in the morning.

The woman, was slashed in the face with a knife on Drumcondra Road at about 8.50am.

Gardaí said yesterday they are following a definite line of inquiry in the case and had carried out a number of searches for the suspect.

The woman is being treated in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital but her injuries are not life threatening.

Gardaí say a total of 1,030 blade offences have been perpetrated already in 2009, meaning more than 30 knife-related crimes are being committed every week, leading to 12 deaths and hundreds of serious injuries.

The Garda data also shows knife possession offences have risen from 75 in 2004 to 308 incidents in 2008, a 300% increase.

Body Found In Search For Missing Woman
Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Pamela Kenny have confirmed they have found a body. Ms Kenny, 52, was last seen in Delwood, Castleknock, on Monday (2 March) at around 10.30am. An appeal was launched into her whereabouts. Gardaí have since confirmed the body is that of Ms Kenny.

Gardaí in Terenure have arrested a man in connection with a carjacking last Friday. In the incident, a woman was stopped at traffic lights when a man got in to the back of her car. He claimed to have a weapon and he demanded money.

Woman Dies After Being Hit By Car In Dublin
An elderly woman who was hit by a car in Dublin has died in hospital. The incident occurred on the Navan Road at around 8.15am on Sunday, 04 September. The driver of the car was arrested and taken to Finglas Garda Station. He has been released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Body Of Missing Woman Frankie Devlin Found
Gardaí have reported that the body of Frankie Devlin was recovered on Wednesday 9 October. Ms Devlin (67) was reported missing on Saturday 5 October and a search operation had been ongoing. The discovery was made on the same day that garda had renewed an appeal for information on the whereabouts of Ms Devlin.

Man Fatally Stabbed In Dublin
A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Dublin in the early hours of this morning, 19 July. Garda responded to reports of an incident in Clinches Court, North Strand at about 4am this morning. When they arrived at the scene a man, aged in his 40s, was found with serious stab wounds.
