USA/NI Economic Envoy Appointed

Northern Ireland business leaders are expected to meet the new US business envoy in Belfast later today.

Tipperary-born Declan Kelly was just appointed by American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at the weekend.

The 41-year-old will serve as the Secretary's economic envoy to the province.

A former PR boss, Mr Kelly played a key roles in Mrs Clinton's presidential bid last year.

He is lately vice-president of global business consultants FTI, and the brother of Irish Labour MEP Ryan Kelly.

The new envoy, who will hold talks in Belfast later, also serves on the boards of several philanthropic and community-based organisations.

His interests mainly focus on Irish issues, including the American Ireland Fund.

Mr Kelly is also chairman of the US Foundation Board of NUI Galway, where he once studied.

Prison Service Confirm Mountjoy Hostage Situation
A prisoner in Mountjoy jail was taken hostage by two brothers in an attempt to secure a transfer prison. The brothers, 24-year-old Stephen and 27-year-old Martin Kelly, tied another prisoner to a chair and held a homemade knife to his throat, according to a report by the Irish Independent.

Missing 15-Year-Old Found 'Safe And Well'
Garda searching for missing 15-year-old Kelly Adebutu have reported that she has been "safe and well". Gardaí in Clondalkin had issued an appeal for help in tracing the teenager, who had been missing since Sunday, 07 February. No further information has been released, but garda have thanked the public for their help.

Govt Approves Delivery Of 500 Modular Homes
The government has approved the delivery of 500 modular homes across Dublin, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, Alan Kelly, has announced. Minister Kelly said that the aim is to have 22 modular units in place by December, with a further 128 to follow in a fast-tracked procurement.

Missing Family Found 'Safe And Well'
A family who had been missing since Wednesday have been found safe and well it has been confirmed. The family, who are originally from Co Longford but were living in the Ballymartin area of Co Down, were last spotted on Wednesday.
