Fatal Road Traffic Collisions Probed

Two people have died after separate weekend road accidents in different parts of Ireland.

A 77-year-old male driver - who was injured in a road traffic collision that occurred in Clondakin last Friday (18th September) - died yesterday at St James Hospital where he was being treated.

The Gardaí at Clondalkin in Dublin, are appealing for witnesses to the accident and have asked that anyone with information about it should contact them.

They said that a blue Opel Zafira and a black Peugeot 206 were involved in the crash on the Kylemore Road, Ballyfermot near the junction with the Old Naas Road, at approximately 1.30pm.

The three occupants of the Peugeot were uninjured but the sole occupant of the Opel Zafira was badly hurt and died yesterday after two days in the hospital.

Meanwhile, in the North, there was another tragic crash, this time on the Magherafelt Road in Moneymore.

The Co Londonderry car crash happened early on Sunday morning, and saw an 18-year-old man, Lee McFaul from the Desertmartin area, fatally injured. Four young men were also taken to hospital after the accident, although their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
